So at work, Sierra has been keeping a GMI Diary, which includes all of the funny moments or sayings that have happened. And I have to say, there are A LOT. I decided I wanted to keep them documented on here. Well, at least the ones that happen to/with me. I need to keep some things about the others private.
Last Thursday I was doing renewal phone calls. I just call people and let them know that their policy will be renewing soon. Just in case you were wondering what they were. :) I had called an insured, and this is how the conversation went:
Me (when insured answered): "Hi, this is Shelby from GMI Insurance. How are you?"
Insured: "Oh, I'm just great."
Me: "Great! I'm just calling to let you know that your policy will be renewing in the next couple of weeks, and if you have any questions just let us know."
Insured: "You are such a good person."
Me: "Well, thank you. We are also letting our clients know......."
Insured: "Yes, you are a great person."
Insured: "Oh, and I like to tan everyday."
Me: "Ummmmmm...........Okay."
Insured: "And I like to tan nude."
Me: "Oh, well have a great day."
.....And then I hung up. How was I supposed to act?? Why would someone say that? I couldn't decide if I wanted to laugh, cry, or get angry. I was stunned. It took me a while to come back from my stunned state. I have never really had someone say something like that to me. Really people? People say the dumbest things.
This is definitely just the first of many GMI Journal posts.

Song of the Week!
It actually is the song of my life!! :) I absolutely love this song! There are tthree things I think about whenever I hear this song: 1) my Savior....He is the one person that will always be there for me, and will never leave, especially during my trials. 2) my future husband and marriage...I want a husband that will always be there for me, no matter what happens, and that holds me up in times of trials. I want to be the kind of wife that always supports my husband, and will do everything in my power to help him in times of need. 3) my family and friends....I wouldn't be anywhere without their love and support. I can't even count how many times they have helped me through a hard time in my life.
"I Won't Let Go"--Rascal Flatts
It’s like a storm
That cuts a path
It breaks your will
It feels like that
You think you're lost
But you're not lost
On your own
You're not alone
I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do
And you can’t cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won't let go
It hurts my heart
To see you cry
I know it’s dark
This part of life
Oh, it finds us all
And we’re too small
To stop the rain
Oh, but when it rains
I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do

And you can’t cope
I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won't let you fall
Don’t be afraid to fall
I’m right here to catch you
I won't let you down
It won't get you down
You're gonna make it
Yeah, I know you can make it
Cause I will stand by you
I will help you through
When you’ve done all you can do
And you can’t cope
And I will dry your eyes
I will fight your fight
I will hold you tight
And I won't let go
Oh I’m gonna hold you
And I won't let go
Won't let you go
No, I won't

C&O: DVD Box
So I have a minor obsession with crafts and organization. I have to have things organized and in an orderly fashion, or I have anxiety attacks. Organizing everything and making crafts are a couple ways that relieve me of stress. When things are cute and orderly, I function a lot easier and so that in turn makes my life a lot less stressful and a lot more fun. I started following a lot of different craft and organizing blogs. (yes, that's how I spend SOME of my free time) I love learning from other people and seeing all of their fun ideas. So I decided, since this is like a journal for me, that every Saturday I will post either a craft I have made in the last little bit or some type of organization thing, whether it be a something I learned or how I organized a certain space. I realized that it might be very boring for some of you, so that's why I only am doing it once a week. And we will see if it even lasts. :)
The first project or craft that I want to share is my DVD box that I made a couple weeks ago. I think it is so cute and a great organizational tool as well. I went to my favorite store, Hobby Lobby, and bought one of those square wooden boxes. The one a got had the cute furnishings on it as well. I bought some red paint, and some gel wood stain. I love the old, run down look. I first did a couple coats of the red and then used to the gel stain over that to give that look. For the inside, my parents had some file rod things, and my dad cut one down to fit inside. I bought some CD sleeves from another one of my favorite stores, The Container Store. Don't judge me, I know I'm weird. I cut the covers from the DVD cases down to fit, that way I know what the movie is and where it goes. For the front, I cut out the letters on the cricut, and then modpodged them on. And I used a little ink to distress the edges. Sorry, I don't have pictures throughout the process. I will in the future.

And sorry the pictures aren't very good. I also decided I want to learn a little photography. :)
I definitely have a lot learn, but for my first big craft, I am pretty happy with it! I can't wait to learn so much more!
Thanks for reading!

"Dance is the Language of the Soul."
I absolutely love this quote! I have been told that it was said anonymously or by a person who's name I can't remember right now. Either way, I hope I'm okay using it. :) Yes, I worry about these things.
This morning I went to my old dance company's competition, and to be honest, I cried. Dancing has been a part of my life for 10 years!! I started when I was 8 and just stopped last year due to graduating high school, work, moving out, and starting college. It would have been way too crazy to keep doing it. But that doesn't mean I don't miss it like crazy. It was so weird sitting in the crowd watching them perform, and not being a part of it.
To me, dancing is a way to express yourself, and then obviously make amazing friends. I am definitely not that good, but it was something that I enjoyed doing. Even though the studio I went to was VERY small, I know that it was the right one to go to. I always wanted to have dance be a PART of my life, but not my WHOLE life. Don't get me wrong, I definitely look up to those girls that spend 5 hours everyday dancing. They are amazing, but that just wasn't for me. I just wanted to dance and have fun without the immense pressure. I also made some amazing friends while I was dancing. We all were a able to come together and do something we love! They all became like sisters to me. I will never forget what I learned while dancing and the amazing experiences I have had.
Congratulations to Senior Company today at their competition! You all did amazing!! No matter what the judges said. I love you all!

First year complete!
Am I really done with my first year of college? YES!! (well, not really until this next Wednesday, but it's close enough) I can't believe I made it! The realization really set in Friday when two of my roommates moved out. It seriously feels like we just moved in. I have grown so much this year and have learned a lot about life and myself. Some of the things I have learned and some memories I have had while living on my own and going to school are:
- Drama still exists (and yes, I know I caused some of it) I definitely have learned a great lesson
- Living on your own and providing for yourself is actually very expensive
- Late night runs to the gas station for 44 oz. diet cokes are mandatory. (well, now they aren't due to my training, but they got me through a lot this year)
- Your roommates can become your best friends.
- It's really hard to say goodbye to them.
- Make friends!!! They keep you going!
- College is SO different from High School
- I'm glad that I'm out of High School
- I have become a lot more independent
- Serve others on a daily basis
- I made some decisions, that now I'm regretting. Definitely learned my lesson.
- Even though I love living on my own, I miss my family every single day
- The gospel is everything to me!
- Runs to Winco.
- "There's a spark in your hair! Get it, get it!"
- Biology class with Hailey!! Love ya!
There are so many more, but it's late, and I'm extremely tired. I will definitely add more as they come to me.
I could not have made it through this year without some amazing people in my life. So just wanted to say thank you to all of you!
First of all, my parents. They have supported me through everything. My mom and dad always ask what's going on at the moment, and if I need anything. They have always shown their love and support. I miss them so much even though they are 10 minutes away. I know I always can go home, and I am so grateful for that.
Second, one of my roommates/best friends, Lisa. She has seen me in my best and worst of times, and she still likes me. (well, I think she does:)) One of the best memories is our late night talks. We have spent hours talking, crying, and laughing. She has always been there for me. She has helped me through so much this year and I am so grateful for her. She has moved home for the summer, but will be back in the fall. I'm really going to miss her these next couple of months.
I was really lucky this year when it came to roommates. I had amazing roommates. They have all been so nice and just amazing. So thank you Kenzie, Catherine, and Jennae. (I don't have any pictures with Jennae :( ). We have had so many crazy adventures. I love you all.
Third, one of my best friends, Becca. Even though we go to different schools and live 3 hours away from each other, she has helped me so much. There have been a lot of times when I would call her and just tell her everything, and she would listen, and then give me advice or tell me what to do. I definitely miss her so much, but am so grateful we still have phones! :)
There are still so many people that have influenced me and have helped me grow this last year! Sorry, I couldn't include all of you individually. I would be up for hours, and I would run out of room it would be so long. But know that you have truly made a difference in my life, and I love all of you!
